This Munch URS 500/four was one of two bikes assembled by the German Munch factory for the 1970 Grand Prix season. It has just emerged from a restoration by its German owner, and was shown at the Post-TT in June and the Festival of Speed in July. It will be auctioned at Stafford in October.
The DOHC-URS engine was designed by Helmut Fath who used one to win the world sidecar 1968championship. Friedl Munch fitted the engines into Rickman frames to compete in the 500cc solo world championship in 1970. Unfortunately Munch and Fath fell out, killing the project.
