BMW says it has created the fastest, lightest and sportiest boxer yet, the HP2 Sport. It’s the first BMW opposed twin with double overhead cams, Quickshifter cluthless fast gear changes and a self-supporting carbon-fiber seat unit. Based on the P1200S, the new HP2 Sport joins the HP2 Enduro and HP2 Megamoto as the third model in the BMW HP “High Performance” range. Engine changes help it reach more than 128 claimed horsepower at 8,750 rpm and 85 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, with a claimed dry weight of just 392 pounds. The Quickshifter enables fast gear changes in the close-ratio six-speed gearbox without easing off the throttle or using the clutch, and the HP2 Sport comes track-ready with a lightÂweight carbon-fiber fairing and specially developed Ohlins front and rear suspension.
